Dexter Archer, VMD, CCRP is Healing Hands 4 Paws creator and Primary Veterinarian. With a focus on exceeding his clients expectations and a passion for improving the quality of your pets life, he leading force behind our program.
Dr. David Chen
Dr. Chen completed a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dr. Chen went on to complete an intensive one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery. To further his education, he attended the CHI institute in Florida to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and is studying herbal medical therapies. Combining Eastern and Western medicine, integrative medicine provides a bridge for synergistic therapies in the treatment of various disease conditions by integrating the best aspects of alternative and traditional treatment options. Dr. Chen’s main focus is on the benefits of Eastern medicine and acupuncture on pets with chronic or uncontrolled pain. When he’s not working, Dr. Chen enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, playing basketball and traveling.
Catherine “Kat” Ferland
Kat has been with Shirley Vet for over 2 years. Starting out as a Kennel Assistant, she was drawn to the Rehabilitation Department after encountering a patient with hind limb paralysis. Kat was permitted to work with this patient, and it was then she discovered her passion for Canine Rehabilitation. Today, Kat is the Head of the Canine Rehabilitation Department as Dr. Archer’s Assistant, and is currently pursuing certification through the Penn Foster and Tennessee Program. Kat’s hard work and dedication to her job and patients has earned her Employee of the Year, and the respect of many of our clients. She continues to learn and grow as a valuable member of our hospital. Kat is also hard working outside of the hospital. She is busy raising her two beautiful daughters and has her own special fur babies to love.
